Shining Stars Tutoring Centre is run by Anne Richards who is a registered and experienced teacher with qualifications in Primary Teaching, Reading Recovery, and Learning Support. Anne   has  been accepted by SPELD, to provide tutoring for students with learning difficulties  as a specialist teacher.
Anne is very passionate about supporting students with their  literacy development. Her centre offers three programs.

Start school with confidence

The 'Little Learners Love Literacy' program developed by Maureen Pollard teaches early literacy skills with a focus on phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency and comprehension. The children are engaged in fun and interesting activities, through their participation in the program and its approach to introducing  letters and sounds through the story ‘Milos Birthday Surprise’ . This program is based on the belief that
all children can love literacy. According to Maureen Pollard, children just need the right tools, teaching and support to feel successful.
Maureen Pollard, an experienced educator has devoted her career to improving literacy outcomes for all students. Please see Shining Stars Tutoring Centre facebook page, for a recent review of this program by a parent who enrolled his child in this program.

Leave Struggle Behind. Shine with confidence

The 'Cracking The ABC Code' program is based on well researched phonic and phonemic knowledge as well as orthographic and memory research. The child's reading accuracy and comprehension ability are assessed as well as spelling and phonic knowledge prior to the commencement of the program so that the program is tailored to their specific needs. This program is  delivered weekly on an individual basis. Parents are  invited to be present during the tuition so that they are familiar with the strategies and skills taught during the lesson. Your child will receive a  work book, a folder of individualised activities and a plastic satchel to carry the items.

Anne also  offers the 'Learnersaurus '  Literacy program developed by Leslie Keast- Patch, a specialist in dyslexia and literacy. This program is an explicit, cumulative, multisensory program suitable for all learners from 7 years of age. According to Leslie, after 10 weeks on this program, when followed as instructed, you will see your learner's confidence grow and watch them enjoy success as they begin to develop their  literacy skills.

Anne has recently successfully  completed the Sounds-Write practitioner's course which means that the Sounds-Write program  can also be offered to students who either need to learn how to read or who need  an effective intervention program to teach them to read and spell. Sounds-Write  is a structured, multisensory, incremental, instructional,  phonics teaching programme .

Anne is also able to support students who need extra tutoring with primary mathematics and  creative writing. This centre  uses the Australian version of the 'Maths-U -See' program.
